Press Release
CHARITY STONE CARVING FESTIVAL
WHITSUN BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Following the incredible success of last years Stone carving extravaganza, Harts Barn
Craft Centre in Longhope, Gloucestershire is hosting its second charity
stonemason’s festival. Last year, an amazing £2800 was raised and shared between the
Mitcheldean Scouts, Guides, and Brownies and The Forge Centre in Cinderford. This
year the charities benefiting from all the hard work will be All Saints Church in
Longhope who are raising money for a restoration project, and The Cobalt Appeal to
help in their continuing good work against the many types of cancer.
Stonemasons from workshops around the country and abroad will be giving up their time
to carve all manner of fabulous sculptures. Veizeys quarry on the Avening road near
Tetbury in Gloucestershire have very generously donated their magnificent carving stone
for the second year running.
The carving will take place on Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and the morning of Monday
25th May 2009. The grand finale will be the exciting auction that will take place on the
Bank Holiday Monday afternoon. The profits from this auction will be donated to our
worthwhile charities.
There will be a hog roast and cider tent, both of which are produced locally.
The Tearoom will be open throughout the festival, serving homemade and locally
produced refreshments.
Admission to this event will be £2.50 for adults, £1.00 for children and £5.00 for a family.
This entitles the bearer to entrance on all three days.
Opening times will be 10am-5pm on all three days.
The craft centre will be open as usual, with free admittance.
